INCOME AND WORKPLACE SUPPORT

AUSTRALIAN GOVERNMENT JOB KEEPER PAYMENT – the latest fact sheet on the JobKeeper Payment, which was passed in Federal Parliament on April 8.

AUSTRALIAN GOVERNMENT SUPPORT FOR SOLE TRADERS – following the Prime Ministers announcement of the further $66 million relief package.

AUSTRALIAN TAXATION OFFICE – Support measures to assist those affected by COVID-19.

AUSTRALIAN DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL SERVICES – COVID-19 information and support including info on the Coronavirus Supplement announced 22 March, which includes support for sole traders and self-employed people.

FAIR WORK OMBUDSMAN – Advice on Workplace Entitlements and Obligations.

APRA – Australian Public Right Organisation APRA is paying out their royalties for Live Performance Reports in May instead of November to get income faster to registered Australian songwriters.

PPCA – Australian Public Rights Organisation PPCA paying cash advances to assist registered Australian artists.

SUPPORT ACT – The Australian Government announced April 9 $10 million funding for Support Act for crisis relief. Applications are open now.

AUSTRALIA COUNCIL FOR THE ARTS RESILIENCE FUND – Approximately $5 million in funding across three programs designed to provide emergency relief to support the livelihoods, practice and operations of Australian artists, groups and organisations during the COVID-19 pandemic.

CITY OF SYDNEY RELIEF GRANTS – newly announced grant programs for small businesses, artists, cultural organisations, social services, and community groups in the City of Sydney catchment area.

CITY OF MELBOURNE ASSISTANCE FOR CREATIVES – $2 million in grants to artists and creatives to invest in new works, and digital presentation of works and performances.

WORKING FOR VICTORIA INITIATIVE – The $500 million initiative helps Victorians, including people who have lost their jobs due to the economic impacts of coronavirus (COVID-19) and find new work opportunities.

LOTTERYWEST COVID-19 RELIEF FUND – WA Premier Mark McGowan and Lotterywest have established a $159 million COVID-19 relief fund to provide provide financial relief for not-for-profit sports, arts and community organisations who had lost revenue due to cancelled events.

ARTS QUEENSLAND ASSISTANCE TO THE ARTS SECTOR DURING COVID-19 – Arts Queensland is implementing a number of measures to support the arts sector. This includes funding boosts, funding extensions, changes to funding application timeframes, and rent relief for tenants based in Queensland Government Arts infrastructure.

SOUTH AUSTRALIAN GOVERNMENT COVID-19 ARTS GRANTS – a range of grants with condition of funding being that independent artists and smaller organisations will be primary financial beneficiaries.

ACT GOVERNMENT’S ‘HOMEFRONT’ FUNDING FOR CANBERRA ARTISTS – Funding of up to $10,000 per artist will be available for Canberra artists to support arts development and the sustainability of their arts practices over the next 6-9 months.

CREATE NSW QUICK RESPONSE GRANTS – Until June 2020, or as relevant updates are provided by the NSW Government – Coronavirus (COVID-19), Create NSW’s Small Project Grants have been redefined to address the current situation of social distancing and the cancellation of non-essential travel.

TASMANIAN CONTEMPORARY MUSIC FUND – To support Tasmanian contemporary musicians whose engagements have been cancelled due to COVID-19 to record music and music videos for digital distribution and promotion, grants of up to $15 000 are available.

NORTHERN TERRITORY ARTS GRANTS FOR COVID-19 RESILIENCE – The NT Government will deliver a $1 million reprioritised funding program to support the arts sector with a focus on artists, arts workers, arts groups and not-for-profit arts organisations.

FIRST NATIONS MUSICIANS COVID-19 YARNING SPACE – Private Facebook group for First Nations musicians.

AUSTRALIAN ARTISTS AMIDST COVID-19 – Facebook group for Australian Arts to ask questions and share ideas about how to work with Covid-19.

FREELANCE MUSICIANS AUSTRALIA COVID-19 SUPPORT – Facebook Australia-based group to understand or provide information on lost income and required support for those whose PRIMARY source of income is performing.

SAVE OUR SCENE – Hats off to Resident Advisor for their excellent global reporting. They’ve launched #saveourscene which gives a number of ways to give and receive support.

GLOBAL PR DJ PLAYLIST GROUP – A place to share professional DJ’s Spotify and Apple Playlists. For the time being its not for personal playlists, instead it is shining some light of our DJ community while clubs are temporarily closed.

ARTIST MANAGEMENT AND MARKETING BEGINNER’S GUIDE – It’s a great time for reading, and legendary artist manager Amy Thompson is sharing 153 pages of her wisdom.

FREE MOOG MINIMOOG MODEL D iOS APP – a faithful visual reproduction of the hardware version (which will set you back a few thousand bucks). Since it’s digital, Moog took a few liberties and added capabilities not available in its physical counterpart and being the legends they are at Moog, they’ve made it free for us during the COVID-19 crisis.

FREE KORG iKAOSSILATOR FOR iOS AND KAOSSILATOR FOR ANDROID – in usual times this app will set you back $19.99, but the champions at Korg have decided to make the Kaossilator app for iOS and Android free of charge for a limited time (iOS version : through March 31, 2020. Android version : From March 13 to March 20, 2020).

LEARNING MUSIC – Ableton has online lessons to learn the basics of music making. No prior experience or equipment is required; you do everything right in your browser.There’s no need to have an Ableton license (or any other DAW). For parents in our community, this is great for kids at home too!

MELODICS – Another great learning tool, which gamifies music practice (on MIDI controllers). There is a free download but you have to pay a subscription for more content later on. It’s great for people who want to get into finger-drumming (if they have a pad based controller), playing keys and drumming (on an electronic drum-kit). The music genres are diverse and it’s amazing for kids and adults.

LEARNING SYNTHS – Another great one from Ableton. Again, no Ableton license required, all done on the web browser. Great user experience and super fun!

ANALOG DREAMS – Native Instruments are giving Analog Dreams away for free until 31st March.

RIVERROAD FREE ONLINE MASTERCLASS – These regular Masterclasses will be facilitated by music education expert Patrick Nellestein, who was the Head of Composition and Music Production at the Australian Institute of Music 2012-2018, is Higher Education Compliance Manager at Navitas (Careers & Industry), which includes SAE Creative Institute, and is also big part of the River Road family.

CHERIE HU’S VIRTUAL MUSIC EVENTS DIRECTORY – We’re huge fans of all Cherie does for the music community. She’s published a comprehensive directory including a list of tools and global calendar of live streamed events.

BANDSINTOWN + TWITCH PARTNERSHIP – Bandsintown is offering artists FREE, accelerated, and much-needed access to Twitch Affiliate status and its world-class live streaming monetization tools.

APRA LIVE STREAM LICENSING – APRA has been swift to publish its CVOD-19 rates for live streaming music licensing.

UNITED WE STREAM BERLIN – The club culture capital of the world has launched an amazing virtual club culture program. Initiated by Clubcommission Berlin and Reclaim Club Culture, it has so far raised over EUR 300,000; had over millions of views and attracted 31,000 Likes on Facebook and 25,000 Followers on Instagram. The program includes many of the techno cities most iconic clubs including Berghain and Watergate.

24 HOURS OF MINCE – Club Mince have announced 24 hours of Sydney best DJs and performers in your very own living room. The first streamed event raised over $9,000 via their GoFundMe to pay artists and creatives. They’re returning weekly every Sunday night.

BEATPORT PRESENTS RECONNECT – Beatport are hosting a 24 hr online DJ event starting Friday March 27th at 8pm GMT. 24 DJs will perform from 24 locations across 24 hrs. Lineup includes Carl Cox, RÜFÜS DU SOL (DJ set), Nina Karviz, Bonobo, Chris Liebing, A-Trak and Nora En Pure.

HAYDEN JAMES BACKYARD LIVE STREAM – the Australian legend will be streaming DJ sets weekly from his backyard.

IRREGULAR FIT AND ANTE PRESENT LAN PARTY – March 21 saw the first of Irregular Fit and Ante’s COVID(eo) disco / quarantine rave / social distancing soiree streamed live via Twitch. Further LAN parties to be announced so stay tuned to their Facebook.

ROOM 2 RADIO – Sydney’s first online nightclub.

S.A.S.H LOCKDOWN RADIO -Will begin broadcasting on Monday the 13th April 2020 at 9am & won’t stop 24hrs a day 7 days a week with 3 different online broadcasting channels.
