FIRST ARTISTS SHOWCASING AT EMCPLAY LIVE 2018

todayOctober 4, 2018 3

Programmed by triple j Unearthed Music Director Dave Ruby Howe, EMCPLAY LIVE showcases twelve of the most exciting live acts currently making waves in Australia, as well as abroad.

Let’s take a look at the 2018 EMCPLAY showcasing artists.

CLEOPOLD

Cleopold is the ever-evolving guise of Australian singer-songwriter Geordie Hewitt. His single “Down In Flames” became a favourite on Beats1, triple j and LA’s KCRW; was premiered by The Fader; and racked up more than 6 million plays online.

FEELS

Hailing from Perth, Feels have burst onto the scene in the past two years and have won fans from the likes of Ableton, triple j and WAM. The duo have performed at festivals such as ‘Listen Out’, ‘Falls Festival’ & ‘Laneway Festival’ while also supporting the likes of Kimbra, Ngaiire, Mansionair and Yeo.

HI LIFE

Future Classic signee HI LIFE is a production duo out of Canberra via Sydney, described as ‘euphoric hyper-pop’ that is ‘equal parts nostalgia and ‘pure giddy joy’ (Matthew Moen). HI LIFE supported SOPHIE and have spent the last two years reworking their sound- finding an equilibrium between high energy elements like bubble-gummy hyper trap production and more mainstream pop electronic music a la The Blaze and Snakehips.

LÂLKA

LÂLKA is the Brisbane-based producer/vocalist/musician creating gritty yet opulent electro pop. Combining heavy industrial beats with hip hop influences and her unique vocal style, she is quickly cementing her niche in the electronic music industry. LÂLKA’s music and live performance reflect her personality: plenty of confidence and tongue-in-cheek energy.

LUBOKU

Melbourne’s Luboku, aka producer/songwriter Luis Kennett, is no average-sounding affair. He creates deep, shadowy production – a swirling haze of harmonies, marked with dark and brooding melodies – crafted into tracks that are at the same time uplifting and melancholic.

PINES

Combining emotive, ambient soundscapes with energetic drum grooves and bass-filled tracks PINES take listeners on a transformational journey while keeping one eye firmly focussed on the dancefloor.
