CLYPSO UNPACKING ‘BEYOND DESIRE’
6pm – 6:45pm

Sydney’s writer, singer, producer on the rise unpacks her beautiful collaboration with Bobby Singh, walking us through the entire creative process from the initial idea first demo, through the sessions to the final master recording.

“I’ve been pretty lucky to meet some of my musical heroes in the past year, so to have one of them play on my track Beyond Desire was a really special moment. Initially I had a tabla sample on the song but I always envisioned the amazing tabla player Bobby Singh playing on it. He loved the song and that was that!
Beyond Desire is about a bigger love, love for our collective humanity.”

REAL TALK – Does anyone even listen to demos anymore?

7pm – 7:30pm

The old process of sending your music to an industry gatekeeper may no longer work. But why? How are artists being discovered in 2019? How do you reach out to the industry these days, or do you just let the industry come to you? A label A&R, a booker and a label manager discuss the modern ways artists are breaking through and how much opportunity unsolicited demos can really afford.

In this session we look at the ways many have built a strong online and offline community around music – and what has been key to their success in generating support, engagement and fandom, rather than just statistics.
