Ishan has 15+ years’ experience in music, entertainment and corporate law and has worked at national and international firms where commercial, copyright, trade mark, and digital matters dominated his portfolio.
This year, he was recognised as a Finalist for “Sports and Entertainment Lawyer of the Year” by Australian Lawyers’ Weekly.
Ishan was General Counsel for Ministry of Sound (now TMRW Music); its electronic labels (etcetc, Central Station, Sweat It Out, Vicious) and touring agencies (Soapbox, Poster Child) and oversaw all legal matters for the Group.
Since then, he has advised numerous start-ups and creative businesses and continues to work with the entire spectrum of the music industry, including: emerging artists, producers, promoters, labels, distributors, digital platforms and major global acts.
He now exclusively represents a global tech media company across all its operations in Asia-Pacific, UK, Europe, Middle East and North America.
Ishan is also an Academic Lecturer in Entertainment Law at the Australian Institute of Music and serves as a long-time pro-bono panel lawyer with the ArtsLaw Centre.
In his spare time, Ishan is a session guitarist, plays in 2 bands, has released 5 albums and regularly shreds at venues throughout NSW.
