Samuel Bright is a director, producer and editor from Sydney, with a background freelancing on music videos, documentaries and short-form content. After graduating from UWS in 2007, with an experimental audiovisual art degree (BA Electronic Arts) he further developed his craft at award winning production companies such as VANDAL, Shine, Fuel VFX and FSM.
Samuel’s passion for music videos as a recognised art-form, and the lack of artistic opportunities in Australia, lead him to develop CLIPPED Music Video Festival, which has been running successfully as part of Vivid Sydney for the past 4 years. It includes an exhibition, awards, screenings and discussion panels. Notable guests to date have included the likes of Sarah Blasko, Megan Washington, Sing J Lee (USA), Sylvia Zakhary (USA), Nash Edgerton, David Wilson (UK), Jesse Kanda (UK), Nigel Dick (USA) & Warren Fu (USA).
Since inception and alongside the CLIPPED.TV blog, CLIPPED has been fostering community and providing a platform to artists, filmmakers and musicians, whilst incentivising the creative process through prizes and showcasing emerging talent. In 2019 CLIPPED Music Video Festival was held at SUNSTUDIOS and secured a record breaking $20,000+ worth of prizes to acknowledge outstanding work by music video creators. Samuel’s long term vision for CLIPPED is to elevate the status or profile of music video creators, persevering to cultivate better connections or collaboration between the film and music industry.
